Rookie mistake doing it before the plow comes by.

Where I live they plow the street with a couple graders, and follow up with a front end loader that clears the snow bank created over driveways, but only on front street driveways, and never well.

Sometimes the city, county and state all have trucks out at the same time doing different roads. Like all roads in the history of roads, they are interconnected but each jurisdiction only plows their own roads. So the city drives to my neighborhood on county roads with the plow up on snow covered roads.

I can drive around my plowed neighborhood now, but can’t get out onto the county road, and there’s a huge snow bank at the end of the city road.
