Decided to do something productive with my gap year, so I came to teach English in rural Cambodia.

I was over there for 3 weeks couple months ago. I left because its too hot.

Be careful on the roads, I saw so many guys drop bikes in intersections, with an unhelmeted child in his lap, and one time pulled a guy from a truck wreck, I got there on my bike before anyone else, no idea if he survived. My friend came across a fatal accident in his bus too.

Thats wild. Ive got the motorcycle license for over 125cc ive only seen 3 accidents. All minor though. Riding here is a completely different game than riding in the US. Ill admit its a little fun.

Yeah no I’ll take a bike in SEA over a car in the US any day. I have never once seen road rage.

I did have a bunch of minor accidents when I first started, learning stuff like “green does not mean you’re safe”, “chickens are suicidal bastards”, and “do not move behind a heavy truck on an incline at a red, it might be driven by a 14 year old who doesn’t know to put the ebrake on”.

Also there is no real direction of traffic or lanes. You drive on the side of the road thats available, not legal.

Driving kinda aggressively seems to be the safest way because if you’re passing everything you dont have to worry about whats behind you and yes red lights are optional.
