I will never understand self checkout issues. I can’t say i have ever had an issue.
I respect that people have issues and thats fine. But i just don’t know how.

Sorry for answering a rhetorical question, but self-checkout is the way it is because stupid consumers meekly agreed to do work for big corporations for no pay. They designed a bad system because they don’t respect you. They don’t respect you because you are a fool.
I’ve noticed this “feature” disappearing from most self checkouts.
I love self checkouts at Uniqlo, you just throw everything into it in a bag and it scans the whole bag in a second, showing you the list if you want to check it.

I like self checkout, or when you can scan the items in the store with your phone or scanned. But o-my-god please no weighting stations, there so much trouble I will avoid them at all cost
People complaining about self checkouts, why do You use them? You can just simply stand in line for 20 minutes just like in the 90s.
because it’s a transfer of labor, at an expense to all of us. where 12 aisles used to be open on a weekend, now 1 is with a 8 spot self check.
i used to do cashier work at my store. back in the 90’s of course.
it’s all just a way to make more profit.
if i scan it and it fails twice, i steal it. and play stupid if seen. i never give a receipt if asked. i know they’re just a worker, underpaid, and UFCW doesn’t care about them, so i just keep walking and never press it. but yeah. fuck the self checks, even IF you still use the main line.

Where is that a problem? Where I’m from self checkouts work fine. I’m not even coming into a store unless it has a self checkout.
Agreed. I use the self-checkout stations almost exclusively for at least a decade, these memes are always confusing. Only time I have a problem is when I get carded for alcohol, otherwise I’m out the door.
There is a version with a scale. Where if your item is not within the small allowed weight, it will not work. I have also seen one with a camera, and if the AI things it is the wrong item it would also lock up.
Both of these options I hate because it gets 50-75% flagged wrong, and it’s literally faster just to wait in the old fashioned que
So go to the queue. I don’t see the problem. We only have the scale based ones and it works 99% of the time. Because how can a packedged product weigh any different?
Our supermarket doesn’t have the scales, and let you scan in store with your phone. So it’s just a QC code and a tap to walk out, super convenient for me, and cheaper for them.
If I go to a store with a scale, I will for sure just walk straight to the manual queue.

If your checkout has a handheld scanner, try using that for the tricky items. It might disregard the weight.

if i have a few items only and i count to 15, i’ll straight just move to a fresh self check register and start my order over.
